Pork and Spinach Pleasers with Love Me Do Dip
Description
Pork and Spinach Wontons with a Plum sauce.
Ingredients
- 1/4 lb. ground pork
- 1/2 cup frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
- 2 Tablespoons green onions, chopped fine
- 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dark sesame oil
- 1/8 teaspoon ginger
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon sugar
- 8 wonton wrappers
- 1 Tablespoon canola oil
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup Asian Plum sauce
- 1 Tablespoonwhite wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar, packed
Methods/steps
- Place the pork into a mixing bowl.
- Add the spinach and green onion and slightly mix together with your hands.
- Pour the soy sauce and sesame oil over the mixture.
- Sprinkle in the ginger, salt and sugar.
- Mixing with your hands combined the ingredients together well.
- Fill each wonton wrapper with the mixture.
- Lightly moisten the outside edge of each wrapper with water so they will seal.
- Fold the wrapper in half and enclose the filling, pinching the ends and center to hold in the filing.
- Pinch the dough towards the center to seal the remaining edges.
- Place a large skillet over medium high heat and allow the skillet to heat up.
- Add the oil and allow it to heat to hot but not smoking.
- Place the wontons into the hot oil.
- Cook the wontons for 2 minutes or just until the bottoms begin to brown.
- Pour the water around the outside edge of the skillet but not over the wontons.
- Cover and cook 8 minutes undisturbed.
- Remove the cover and shaking the skillet continue to cook the wontons 2 minutes until all the water has been absorbed and they are a crispy brown.
- Remove from the skillet and place bottom side up on a serving plate.
- Place the Plum sauce and vinegar into a small mixing bowl.
- Add the sugar and whisk the mixture until the sugar has completely dissolved.
- Serve the sauce as a dip with the wontons.
